We enjoyed looking at all our tall sunflowers in class. We looked at the emailed photos and the printed ones that had been sent in. It was easy to see Joshua was the winner with his 7 foot tall sunflower.
He was closely followed by Regan and Duncan though.
Well Done everyone for doing so well looking after your sunflowers!

Our Glorious FS2 Gardeners!
WOW What a fantastic bunch of gardeners we have in FS2!
In April we planted sunflower seeds in class. We then all took them home to see who could look after their sunflower and help it to grow tall. Well I am so glad to say that the FS2 children are much better gardeners than Mrs Cameron and Miss Kitchen. We didn't do so well! We forgot to water the sunflower seeds we planted. Although they grew at first, because they were so thirsty and didn't get watered, they died!
Have a look at the photo's below of the children's sunflowers. Can you see who has won the competition of growing the tallest sunflower?

Sports Day!
Last Friday was Sports Day at Fieldhead Carr. The rest of the school did lots of different sporting events, rotating around them. At half-time it all stopped for the best bit of the morning - the FS2 running races!
We had lots of fun. Have a look at our photos

Eureka - MORE photo's from the day out!
Mrs Cameron forgot about the silver camera having photo's from our trip on it. Enjoy a few more photo's from our day out at Eureka.
Can you spot yourself and explain to your grown-ups what you were doing on the photo?

EUREKA!
Last week FS2 had a class trip to Eureka in Halifax. It was a fantastic day! Miss Kitchen and Mrs Cameron were so proud of us; how we used the museum galleries, how we behaved in the museum, the example we set as children of Fieldhead Carr and how sensible we were at lunch time and during the coach journey.
Mrs Frisby, Miss Clarke, Mrs Sinker, Mrs Holmes, Mr Harrison and Mrs Garth (Mrs Cameron's mum) all came with us too. They also had a brilliant day and had so much fun with us.
We explored all the galleries in the museum;

We explored all the galleries in the museum;
- All About Me - where we learnt all about our bodies
- Living and Working Together - this had brilliant realistic role-play areas for us to use (A bank, garage, post office, a M & S, a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and attic)
- SoundSpace - where we learnt all about the science of sound
- SoundGarden - a sound area for the under 5's
- Desert Discovery
- Our Global Garden - all about the natural planet and growing

A Snake in FS2!
Last Friday we were so lucky in FS2 as 'Steve' the snake came to visit us.
He is Lacey's mum's corn snake. Lacey and her Aunty Gemma told us lots of information about him.
We found out he eats dead mice. He sleeps in a plastic tank but he has a heat mat under his tank at night to keep him warm. He sheds his skin regularly.
We even saw what his dead skin looks like after he has shed it.

Giant African Land Snails in FS2!
This week we have been learning more about minibeasts during our Topic sessions. We looked closely at some minibeasts that aren't very mini!
We borrowed Miss Morris's Giant African Land Snails from Year 2; 'Fizz' and 'Wurly'. We looked closely at them, talked about them and painted pictures of them, mixing our own powder paint colours. We needed to mix many different shades of brown!
Some children wanted to hold the snails to see what they feel like. They felt very wet and slimey! Some children didn't want to hold them themselves but they enjoyed watching the other children hold them. Elizabeth didn't want to hold them at all but after watching all the other children, she felt brave enough to hold them herself.
