Making our maps!!

This week we are making maps leading from reading Rose's Walk. Our maps are a route to follow for our minibeast hunts next week. The children have had to plan their journey they'd like to take around school, then photograph the route, print off the pictures they took and then work as a group to make a map of their route, which we can then use next week to go on our actual minibeast hunts!

Both the children and myself have really enjoyed this activity and I have to say, the quality of maps we are producing is amazing!!! We'll definitely be finding some minibeasts next week!!

All the photos were taken by the children too!

The start of the map, outside FS2 door...

Through the gate...

Past the picnic benches...

Having a look under the tyres...

down the steps...

In the corner...

Infront of the ball courts...

Under the climbing frame...

Inside the planters...

Working as a group to make our map!!

In the other corner...

Under the rubber mats...

Under the tyres!

Inside the planters again...

One of our super maps!

Close up...

All ready for our minibeast hunts!

  1. Hi FS2,

It looks like you've had a fabulous mini-beast walk! We learnt about mini-beasts last term and we went on a neighbourhood walk.

I like the words you've used to explain your location too. We have been using some of those words in maths. I think I might pinch your idea next time we do location for maths.
